The Practice Of Law Is A Relationship Business

Corey H. Stern

Biography

Mr. Stern has spent the majority of his career representing major financial corporations, clearing firms, and trust companies in securities and commercial litigation and regulatory actions. He has represented financial services clients in various arbitral forums, including FINRA, NASD, and JAMS, and in state and federal courts.

His experience in securities and non-securities matters includes tax shelters, elder abuse claims, bankruptcy issues, insurance coverage, garnishment and collection, labor and employment issues (usually in the context of promissory note claims), and probate. He personally oversees each matter from inception through the discovery process to trial or final hearing, concurrently analyzing each case for its settlement value.

Mr. Stern has handled over 300 separate matters for broker-dealers and other financial services clients. His experience also includes the evaluation of risk within the context of litigation, regulatory actions, and day-to-day business operations. He routinely performs risk/reward analyses on both active cases and prospective issues for financial services clients, as well as sales practice investigations with respect to active cases and in connection with regulatory compliance.

Mr. Stern also represents businesses and individuals in commercial matters, both pertaining to securities and investments and other business issues. His broad experience representing large financial institutions makes him especially effective in representing investors and other entities in investment-related disputes, as well as in the context of non-securities related business litigation matters.

Mr. Stern started his career at Winston & Strawn LLP, where he worked on large-scale commercial litigation matters pertaining to insurance coverage and telecommunications disputes. He then joined the securities litigation practice at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius before joining Bressler, Amery & Ross, where he represented some of the largest and most recognizable firms on Wall Street and gained extensive first-chair experience.
